About The Old Rectory Caravan and Camping Park

Perched three miles from Tavistock on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, The Old Rectory is a working smallholding where campers can genuinely unplug. Pitch options run from secluded non-electric corners to hardstanding touring spots with optional hook-up, while a dedicated dog-walking field keeps four-legged guests happy. The farm produces its own free-range eggs, bacon and sausages—plus seasonal veg from the polytunnel when the harvest allows—and facilities include clean shower blocks, laundry, a book swap and a play area for younger visitors.

Dark skies overhead make for stellar stargazing in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the location splits the difference neatly between Devon and Cornwall, so you can explore both without committing. Thoughtful touches like welly loan, bike-cleaning stations and comprehensive recycling show the site's green credentials, though some reviewers note that facilities can feel a touch dated in places. Still, it's the kind of quiet, family-run spot where simplicity is the whole point.

Very nice campsite with helpful and pleasant owners. Facilities are dated but perfectly fine. Electric is metered and worked out less than 1 pound per night for us so fair. Nicely located with views over Dartmoor and near the Tamar trail. Tavistock is 3 miles.

We stayed in one of the private camping bays with lovely beech hedges around it. The campsite is just the right size for us and as we went mid week it wasn't fully booked. We very much enjoyed watching the birds use the hedge for foraging grounds. Saw so many different birds. The hosts are wonderful and have us excellent tips on our return journey, closest shops etc. They have a lovely little shop with a few essentials if you run out or forgot to bring anything. Plus their own truly free range chicken and duck eggs. The site has been designed with nature in mind and lots of evidence that conservation features high in the agenda. Cannot recommend highly enough. A must stay for campers and probably also glampers but we didn't see the inside of the pods. The outside space is lovely so guessing by the standard of everything else you won't be disappointed staying in one of the pods. Well definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We had a wonderful experience camping here in one of the fields Declan and Sarah had. It was my first time camping and such a perfect experience! They were friendly and accommodating, it had everything we needed and the facilities were clean and accessible. An extra special thank you to Declan who even gave us some home made cider to try- it was gorgeous! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a quiet and beautiful escape.

Just got home after a lovely weekend here in the motorhome with my dogs. First on the site for 1st March opening. Found the owners super friendly and helpful, pitch spacious and with stunning views over Dartmoor, loads of lovely trails for walking and biking nearby and a handy dog walking area on site. Took a hike down the canal trail down to Tavistock which was beautiful, and rode the bike on the Tamar trails also just up the road. Loads of woodlands, river and canal trails to explore all around. Definitely recommend this family run site in a great location. Thanks for having us Declan and Sara.
