About Shaftesbury Country Touring Park
Tucked into a quiet corner of Hardy's Dorset near Shaftesbury, this year-round park strikes a lovely balance between seclusion and accessibility. The setting feels genuinely rural – expect proper countryside peace rather than manicured pitches – and the welcome is warm and personal. Reviewers consistently praise the friendly, helpful owners who clearly take pride in the place.
Facilities cover the essentials well: electric hook-ups, clean showers and toilets, fresh drinking water, and dogs are welcomed. Some visitors note the site can feel a little dated in places, but most appreciate the unpretentious, no-frills approach and excellent value. It's an honest, straightforward base for exploring North Dorset's market towns, hill forts, and walking country – ideal if you prefer character and tranquillity over resort-style amenities.

What visitors say
A delightful setting - glorious country park. Super friendly hosts. Easily the BEST showers ever! Recently refurbished. Lovely hot water, non slip flooring and spacious shower units. A “nice to have” would be a bench to sit on to dry your toes! We were here when a couple of geese were raising their brood on the lake which was a joy to watch. You can walk into town along the back roads which is very pretty but also steeply up hill. We used Berwick Taxis - Julian is super friendly and flexible.

Lovely campsite, clean and modern toilets and showers. Great owner. Large pitches. Londis and petrol at the entrance.

Had a caravan and tenting break here with others. Lovely location a bit of road traffic noise but not enough to really bother you too much. If you like walking or to have a pub nearby you will need to drive somewhere for these. For walking there is no access from site itself. But there is a large field to walk around if you want something. Pretty small lake in one of its beautiful camping fields. Very well laid out with really good size pitches. Toilet block and showers clean but only two of each. The team on site you cannot fault very friendly, welcoming, relaxed and accomodating. Thank you for our great stay.

Super little camping and caravan site. The owner was friendly and helpful, the site is easy to find and access. It was excellent value for money for my wife and me as we had a 2 night stay on an unpowered pitch in the large meadow for just £7.50 per person/night. The bathrooms were well equipped and clean. Whilst there is no official site shop, there's a well-stocked Londis store and petrol station at the entrance to the site.
