About Swanage Coastal Park

Perched on 15 hillside acres above Swanage Bay, this peaceful grassland site trades bells and whistles for something better: spectacular views over Purbeck's blue waters and rolling countryside. There's no pool or evening entertainment here – instead you get serenity, clean facilities (showers, launderette, washing-up area), and easy access to Dorset's coastal treasures. Swanage town lies a mile away along a pleasant footpath, whilst Corfe Castle, Monkey World and Brownsea Island ferries are all within easy reach.

The sloping, non-electric grass pitches feel a touch basic – some reviewers note the overflow areas can be uneven – but most reckon the sweeping coastal panoramas more than compensate. A neighbouring leisure club offers day memberships if you fancy a swim or sauna between beach trips. Dogs are welcome year-round, and with the Jurassic Coast's fossil beaches, South West Coast Path walks and chain ferry connections to Poole on your doorstep, you'll want to linger longer than planned.

I would strongly advise anyone to avoid Swanage Coastal Park. I made a valid reservation through Booking.com, received confirmation that my booking had been ACCEPTED, and paid for a NON-REFUNDABLE stay — meaning I would have lost all my money if I had cancelled myself. Then, just a few hours later, I received another email saying that “unfortunately” they could no longer honour the booking because the accommodation was already full. So apparently their “non-refundable” policy only applies to customers — not to them. What makes this even worse is that they informed me my refund could take 7–12 days. They were perfectly happy to take my money immediately, cancel a confirmed reservation because of their own mistake, and then make me wait almost two weeks to get MY money back. This is completely unacceptable, unprofessional, and incredibly unreliable. A confirmed booking should actually mean something. If you are travelling, especially from far away, do not trust this place with your plans. I have emails proving: * the booking was confirmed and accepted, * the payment was taken, * and then they cancelled afterwards claiming the accommodation was already full. Terrible experience, terrible management, and shocking customer service.

Lovely vacation park we stayed in a private let but when registering stay the park staff were so nice and polite letting us know all that goes on in and around the area and explained the excess prices if we wanted to go swimming on site and things will definitely be staying again in the park

Lovely site. Really quiet and peaceful. We had sea view, and was amazing. The site is very high up, so steep, parking next to caravan helped. You have to use a code to get in, so secure. We didn't use the swimming pool or club, so can't comment on that. But will definitely go back next year.
