So good we went twice in the same month! Have been looking at camping here for some time, the campsite runs alongside the Swanage Steam Railway and it's a great location for exploring Swanage, Wareham and the whole Purbeck Peninsula. Setting up to face the railway is north facing so you never have the sun directly in front of you and perched at the top of the slope gives you a perfect view of the steam trains passing. The campsite is the friendliest we've ever been to, the hospitality from everyone here is first class. We made good use of the Food shack which incidentally as well as freshly cooked food it serves some great beers from local brewery Hattie Browns in Swanage (Personal favourite: Agglestone) If you want to travel on the trains the station at Harmans Cross is just outside the campsite entrance. At £10 per person per night you wouldn't expect too much but that's not the case here. Someone is on hand to answer any questions almost all day and evening, the toilets being Eco green compost loos were a new experience but obviously great for the environment and you do get used to them very quickly. They are kept clean and checked very regularly. The showers look very primitive from the outside but when you enter you have lots of space and a great hot shower. Better than most showers I've come across at other sites. Why did we go twice in one month? Our first visit was a Friday - Sunday trip but we soon became aware that on a Thursday the kitchen is handed over for a completely Caribbean food night. So of course, having enjoyed our first trip so much we just booked trip No 2 while we were there. Now of course we're already planning our 3rd visit!!

Best location ever! Very tidy, don’t like the toilets but that’s personal preference! Owner was so friendly & we had a great time! Now we’ve been once I’d defo pitch up elsewhere with a better view/ location next time we go!

What an awesome campsite! Very chilled atmosphere. Cheap with great facilities. Hot showers were hot and compost toilets were clean and smelled like sawdust rather than anything nasty! Even better than that was the food available on site from breakfast to evening meals! Steam train goes right past the site too which is cool! We will definitely be returning :) thanks again! Lovely dogs too!
