Round Chimneys Farm - Churchill Cottage
Dorset
View on Google MapsFamilies and groups after proper space and country quiet will find Churchill Cottage meets both. The cottage sleeps six across two bedrooms—one with a zip-and-link super king, the other with two single beds and a pull-out—plus two bathrooms spread over three floors. A sofa bed in the living room adds flexibility. The ground floor holds the main living space, with a woodburner for cooler months and enough kitchen equipment to cook proper meals; an enclosed garden and parking for three cars come with it.
The cottage sits within 300 acres of working sheep and beef farm near Sherborne, five miles south. That setting suits those wanting to walk or cycle through proper countryside without needing to drive far for a town—Sherborne itself has an abbey, castle, independent shops and cafés. One dog stays free. Essentials like heating, electricity, linen and towels are included, as is wifi. No smoking inside. There is a fenced lake on the grounds, a hundred yards from the property.

What a little gem Round Chimneys Cafe is! When asked if they assist in hosting a small afternoon tea to celebrate a 90th birthday they couldn’t have been more helpful & accommodating. Well yesterday was the day and they certainly pulled out all the stops. We were seated in the open seating area barn and were treated to the most delicious cream tea - sandwiches, brownies, flapjacks, scones with cream & jam and of course an endless supply of tea, coffee & cold drinks. Alec and his team were just brilliant and all took time to chat with the birthday girl who at 90 felt very spoilt. Thank you so very much for making her birthday such a memorable afternoon.
