The Old Forge
Dorset

Lower Wraxall sits within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by footpaths, bridleways and enough countryside to lose yourself in for days. The Old Forge occupies what was once the village forge—a single-bedroom converted stone building set in half an acre of partly wooded garden that slopes down to a stream. The property stands alone on its grounds, with parking on site and room to breathe away from neighbours.
Inside, the ground floor combines living, dining and kitchen in one open space, with a wood-burning stove, TV and DVD player. The kitchen has an electric oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher and washer-dryer, so you can cook properly or keep things simple. The bedroom holds a double bed; the ensuite has a cubicle shower. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. A travel cot and highchair are available if needed. No smoking throughout.
The garden has a tennis court, garden furniture on a terrace, and direct access to the stream—naturally fed from a spring. One dog is welcome at no extra cost. From here, Eggardon Hill lies within walking distance, the Jurassic Coast near Burton Bradstock is accessible by car, and West Bay's harbour and beaches are close by. Sherborne, Bridport and Dorchester are all within reasonable reach. A shop is a mile away, and breakfast or evening meals can be arranged in advance.
