Being on a working livestock farm, you'll soon be firm friends with calves and sheep in neighbouring meadows (keep dogs under close control). From here, potter along winding lanes to historic Dorchester, where Wednesday and Sunday morning gourmet markets supply barbecue goodies, or simply head to one of several decent pubs within a 15-minute drive. Get there early to bag the best views – this is wild camping as it should be.
