About Ashley's Meadow

Looking for a slice of rural Gloucestershire served up with the personal touch? Make a beeline for Ashley's Meadow, five minutes' drive from Drybrook in the Forest of Dean. This teeny-tiny site has just a handful of spacious, carpeted bell tents, each kitted out with a comfy sofa, double and two single beds (linens and pillows provided), plus outdoor seating for summertime suppers. Step-free access throughout and wheelchair-accessible facilities make it genuinely welcoming for mobility-impaired guests, while the owners are on hand 24/7 for any questions.

Beyond the shared firepit and covered eating area with hot plate and barbecue, you've got 14 acres of private woodland to explore – particularly lovely when bluebells carpet the forest floor in spring. Kids can burn off energy on the trampoline or in the enclosed play field, and if the weather turns, there's a games room with pool, darts and giant beanbags. With canoeing, cycling and farmers' markets all nearby, it's a peaceful woodland retreat that doesn't skimp on thoughtful details.

Last weekend we stayed at Ashleys Meadow for one night. The bell tents were very clean and comfortable. The beds were lovely and snuggly warm. Will definitely be going back in the near future.

Me and two children had a lovely relaxing time at Ashley’s meadow when we stayed 4 nights in the summer holidays. We stayed last year as well and are planning on going back next year. I’d always wanted to take the kids camping before but thought that I would find it difficult with my 17 year old autistic son and my 9 year old daughter but there were enough facilities to be able to relax but it still felt like camping and being out in Nature, we loved the horses and the sheep and it was easy to contact Julia if there was anything that we needed. My son loved the trampoline and my daughter loved making smores on the camp fire. We really enjoyed stargazing and listening out for wildlife in the evening. The kitchen had all the facilities we needed, including an air frier which was very helpful. The bell tent was lovely, clean, plenty of space for the three of us, the beds were comfy. It was cold at night despite it being 25 degrees in the day but there were lots of blankets provided in the tent.

A wonderful space for families to be together and enjoy beautiful countryside and the fun of being outdoors, safe in the knowledge that Julia and Simon, your hosts, will be there to help ensure you have the best time and be understanding of any special needs or requirements you and your family have. We loved our nights under canvas, playing on the trampoline and swing, helping to feed the animals, toasting marshmallows over the fire, chill out time and enjoying the fabulous collection of toys and games in the playroom! Thank you so much for making our visit so memorable and special! ❤️
