The cottage sits in the owner's grounds, which feature a large lawned garden with patio seating and garden furniture; there is an unfenced pond and slopes on the property, and parking for six cars on site.

Moffat, a conservation market town a mile away, has the dual high street characteristic of old coaching stops, with specialist wool and cashmere shops reflecting its weaving heritage. The town is within a mile of a pub. Dumfries and Galloway's countryside is accessible from here, and Glasgow and Edinburgh are both under an hour's drive. Smoking is not permitted in the cottage.
