Fairview

Fairview stands a hundred yards from the Solway's sandy shore in Rockcliffe, a conservation village on the coast. The whole house is yours, sleeping eight across four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The ground floor has a living room with a smart TV, a separate dining room, a kitchen with double ovens and a dishwasher, and a shower room. Upstairs are bedrooms with a king bed, a double, and two singles (one pair in a zip-and-link arrangement), along with a bathroom offering a bath and shower. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included; a tumble dryer is in an outbuilding, and there is private parking for three cars and a garden with a patio.

The location opens onto forest and coastal paths—walks range from gentle riverside strolls to runs round the coast towards Kippford. Dalbeattie Forest and the 7stanes mountain bike trails are within reach. For water-based activity, the beach itself allows small boats to launch directly, and sailing, windsurfing and fishing are all possible. Birdwatchers should visit Rough Island, a National Trust sanctuary connected to shore at low tide, or the nearby RSPB and WWT reserves. Inland lie climbing opportunities on Screel Hill, Ben Gairn and Criffell, and the historic towns of Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse of Fleet. Dogs are welcome, though smoking is not permitted.
