Hameish Holiday Cottage is a detached house on the outskirts of Kirkcudbright, a working harbour town in Dumfries and Galloway that doubles as a centre for artists and craftspeople. The property sits within landscaped gardens and is a short walk from the town itself, where pubs, restaurants and a calendar of events—from jazz festivals to classic car rallies—run throughout the year. A river is 275 yards away, and Castle Douglas lies 9 miles to the east.
The cottage has two bedrooms: one with a double bed and ensuite shower, the other with two single beds. There is a second bathroom with a bath and shower. Downstairs, the living and dining space contains a woodburner, TV and DVD player. The kitchen is equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and all the usual appliances. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are included; logs for the woodburner are provided from November to March. A lawned garden with seating and a barbecue, plus parking for two cars, complete the setup. This is a no-smoking property.
The location works well for couples or small families wanting access to both countryside pursuits—fishing, cycling, horse riding in the nearby Galloway Forest Park—and a town with genuine character. Threave Garden and Estate, run by the National Trust, is a popular day out.
