🏡 Self-Catering Cottage

High Vennel Cottages - Taigh-Beag

Dumfries and Galloway

Taigh-Beag sits on a quiet street in Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town, with parking for two cars outside. The cottage holds two bedrooms—a double upstairs and a single on the ground floor—plus one shower room, sleeping three people in total. It's yours alone for the stay, with heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi all included.

The ground floor contains the single bedroom, a shower room, and an open-plan kitchen and living area with an electric oven, hob, microwave and washing machine. Upstairs is the double bedroom. The living room has an electric wood burner for evenings in. This is a working cottage for self-catering: you can cook proper meals, dry clothes and settle in properly rather than make do.

Wigtown itself draws visitors for its independent bookshops and the annual Book Festival. Beyond the town, Galloway Forest Park is close enough for walking and cycling, and it sits within a Dark Sky Park designated for stargazing. The coast—Garlieston, Monreith and St Ninian's Cave—is a short drive. History buffs will find Bladnoch Distillery, Whithorn Priory and Cardoness Castle nearby. Smoking is not permitted.
