Durisdeer sits at the foot of the Lowther Hills, where the surrounding landscape offers immediate access to walking routes and the kind of dark skies that make stargazing worthwhile. The village itself centres on a green, and Durisdeer Parish Church anchors the setting. This is countryside that rewards exploration on foot or by car, with enough within reach to keep a week occupied.
Keepers Cottage is a semi-detached house fully yours for the stay. Downstairs holds a living room with wood burner, and a kitchen/dining space with induction hob, electric range, dishwasher and the rest of what you need to cook properly. Upstairs are two bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed and a roll-top bath in the room itself, the other with two single beds—plus a shower room with walk-in shower. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included, along with the initial fuel for the wood burner. One dog is welcome at no extra cost. An enclosed garden has a patio, furniture and barbecue; an outdoor wood-fired sauna is available on request.
The cottage suits groups wanting comfort without fuss, or couples after a genuinely quiet break. No smoking inside. Check-in is after 15:30 and checkout before 10:00.
