Killantrae Burn

Dumfries and Galloway

View on Google Maps

Port William sits on the Machars, a stretch of Dumfries and Galloway coastline marked by sandy beaches, shingle strands and rocky coves. Killantrae Burn occupies the village's quietest corner—the garden opens straight onto the beach, which lies just 20 yards away. The only significant disruption is Port William Carnival week in early August; otherwise, the pace is unhurried. A shop stands 50 yards down the road; the nearest pub and restaurant are further afield, at 10 and 8 miles respectively.

The cottage holds two bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor, with a king bed in one room and two singles in the other, sleeping four. Upstairs is a combined living and dining space that opens off the kitchen, where you can prepare meals using an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and full-size fridge-freezer. A woodburner warms the main room on cooler days, and initial logs are supplied. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are included; oil central heating keeps the property warm year-round. One well-behaved pet stays free.

The region draws people for fishing on excellent local rivers, cycling the challenging 7stanes network, horse riding, golf, sailing and coastal walks. The mild Gulf Stream climate supports some of southern Scotland's most notable gardens. No smoking is permitted inside.
