Saltlife Cottage

Port William sits on the Machars Peninsula in Dumfries and Galloway, a working fishing village with direct beach access from the cottage garden. The coastline here looks out across Luce Bay towards the Mull of Galloway and the Isle of Man. Inland, the Galloway Hills fold into woodland and moorland interspersed with lochs and burns, while the wider area takes in the Solway coast with its sandy beaches and rocky coves.

Saltlife Cottage is a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom property renovated in 2020 to accommodate six guests. The ground floor contains a kitchen with gas and electric cooking, dishwasher and washer-dryer, plus a bedroom with a super king bed and a shower room. Upstairs is the main living room with a woodburner, a bedroom with two single beds, and a third bedroom with a double bed and ensuite bath. Bed linen, towels and WiFi are provided; heating and initial logs for the burner are included. An enclosed garden to the rear has seating and furniture. The cottage does not permit smoking.

The location suits families and groups wanting to walk the coast or explore the Galloway countryside without being tethered to a town. Wigtown Bay Local Nature Reserve lies nearby. Port William itself has a harbour, shops and places to eat within easy reach.
