Kirklauchline Pods – Douglas is a contemporary single-bedroom pod designed as a complete retreat for two people. The whole property is yours alone, arranged on one level with an open-plan layout that combines living space, dining area and kitchen in one room, plus a separate bedroom with a double bed and an ensuite shower room. The kitchen has an electric hob, microwave/oven combination and fridge, making it straightforward to cook proper meals. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included; there's also a welcome pack on arrival.

Outside, a covered porch and front garden with seating face out towards open farmland and views across to the Irish Sea. The pod sits on the Rhins of Galloway Peninsula, a short drive from Portpatrick, a working harbour village with seafood restaurants and pubs. Walkers have direct access to coastal routes and the Southern Upland Way; Dunskey Castle, Logan Botanic Garden and the Mull of Galloway lighthouse are all within reach by car. One small dog stays free. The property has parking for two cars on site and does not permit smoking inside.

Had an amazing time. Everything was perfect. The cottage had great views from every window. The coast the country side. We even saw deer rabbits cows and loads of lovely birds. You also see the farmers come along with the tractors. Great starter pack. A relaxing stay had by all. Will be booking again.

This was a nice cottage but had no usable garden just a small decked area in need of attention and a stoned driveway. There were no signposted footpaths for walking and much of the surrounding area seemed to be used for excavating rocks

We wouldnt hesitate in coming back here. We have a reactive dog and it was more than suitable for her needs as we didnt see a soul all week! The cottage itself was comfortable and cosy. We look forward to returning.

Just booked for the 3rd time. Realised I hadn't left a review previously. I've travelled solo with my pupper and with family and both times our visit had been wonderful. I always visit around January for the dark skies, which don't disappoint. Being stood outside late at night on a clear night looking at the stars after glorious sunsets is incredible. The cottage has everything you could need, it's warm and cosy. My dog is totally at home here and loves nothing more than snoring in front of the fire after a good walk on one of the local beaches which are mostly empty, or around the Port. We've visited most places locally and the community is welcoming and friendly. It's great being in the middle of nowhere looking out onto the sea, especially on a clear day watching the boats go by. Looking forward to my next visit!
