Shore Cottage

From Shore Cottage's garden, the beach is just metres away—a tidal strand in a nature reserve where oystercatchers and estuary birds gather. Newton Stewart's shops, cinema and restaurants are nearby, as are Carsluith Castle and two respected smokehouses serving fresh local fish. Walkers and cyclists can reach Glentrool Forest Park and the mountain bike trails of Kirroughtree and the 7Stanes within easy driving distance, while Galloway Forest and its Dark Skies Park are also close by. The Machars and Rhins of Galloway offer quaint villages, sandy coves and gardens to explore, and there are several golf courses in the area.

Built in 1860 as a quarryman's cottage, this terraced property is compact but comfortable. The ground floor has an open-plan living space with a 32-inch TV and woodburner (initial logs included), a kitchen with electric cooker and microwave, and a shower room. Upstairs are two bedrooms—one with a double bed and one with two singles. The cottage sleeps 4 and has one bathroom. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen, towels and parking on site are included. There is direct garden access to the beach and the property has a natural water supply.

One small or medium dog stays free. The cottage is not suitable for smoking. Please note there are steep spiral stairs. A stairgate is available on request.
