The Stable
Dumfries and Galloway
Photo: Google Maps
Dumfries and Galloway's open countryside draws walkers and cyclists, with the Southern Upland Way starting nearby and coastal Portpatrick just six miles away. The Stable sits on a smallholding in this setting, a two-bedroom cottage sleeping four with one bathroom. One dog stays free. You get a ground-floor living room and dining room, a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, and upstairs two bedrooms—one double, one with two singles. The essentials are covered: heating, electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels included. Parking for two cars is on site.
The area suits people drawn to outdoor pursuits, with golf courses, a leisure centre and swimming pool locally. Stranraer, a coastal resort with shops and ferries to Ireland, is within reach. Inland, Logan Botanical Gardens, Ardwell House and Castle Kennedy's famous rhododendrons and azaleas are all nearby. A shop, pub and restaurant sit a mile away. The cottage has a travel cot and highchair available on request, and a bike store. Note that the stairs are steep and spiral.
