About Pinkerton Hill
This tiny woodland hideaway truly earns its off-grid credentials. Reached via a rough mile-long track (4WD recommended, though lifts are available), Pinkerton Hill's handful of pitches nestle among trees with sweeping views toward the North Sea. The vibe is refreshingly wild, yet you'll find proper facilities including a kitchen, shower block and a memorable outdoor bath where water heats over an open fire. Campfires are permitted when conditions allow, using logs from the site.
Part of a working Scottish smallholding, you'll share the space with friendly pigs, ponies, poultry and a sociable Scottie. The dark skies make for excellent stargazing, and while the setting feels genuinely remote, Dunbar's shops and eateries sit just ten minutes' drive away. Edinburgh is barely 40 minutes if you fancy city culture between coastal walks, surfing sessions or castle visits. The owners' catering company can sometimes arrange meals on request. A few guests note the track can challenge standard cars, but most agree the peaceful reward is worth it.

What visitors say
We have been coming here every two weeks where possible for the last three years even in The winter!! The grass field is immaculately kept. Kay is very welcoming and nothing is a bother. The views over Dunbar and the Bass rock are spectacular. Dunbar with its shop filled high street is a 5 minute drive with plenty places to eat. Make sure you visit the harbour and see if you can spot the seal. There are loads of walks near by. The site itself has an elsan disposal point and a fresh water tap! (All thats required for us) and plenty fresh air! Would 100% recommend..
