Glendaruel Caravan Park

Award-winning woodland touring park near the Kyles of Bute

About Glendaruel Caravan Park

Glendaruel Caravan Park sits in 22 acres of mixed woodland on the Cowal peninsula, close enough to the Kyles of Bute that the crossing to the island from Colintraive takes only a few minutes. Red squirrels are regular visitors, and the mature woodland setting provides a genuinely rural alternative to Bute's own more limited camping options. The park welcomes caravans, motorhomes, campervans and small tents, with holiday caravans and simple camping bothies also available for those without their own kit.

A children's play area makes it comfortable for families, while walkers and cyclists on the Loch Lomond and Cowal Way often use it as an overnight stop – the trail runs through the site, so good walking is available straight from the pitch. Dogs are welcome throughout. Reception doubles as an on-site shop for essentials, and electric hookups, showers and toilets are all provided.

As a touring base it works particularly well for combining a Bute visit with wider exploration of Argyll: Dunoon, Tighnabruaich and the rest of Cowal are all within easy driving distance.

What visitors say

Lovely site tucked away on the west road of Glendaruel. Very peaceful location. Lovely level pitches for our tents. Small indoor kitchen area with fridge, kettle, microwave and sink, plus a covered area if weather inclement. Annie the owner is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the local area. Highly recommend.

We absolutely loved this campsite. We stayed in a tent and found the site to be spacious, peaceful, and incredibly well looked after. The facilities were second to none, with a fridge available to store your food and a microwave for preparing meals – little touches that made camping even easier. The location is perfect for walking, with plenty of scenic routes to explore right from the campsite and in the surrounding area. During our stay, we also visited Portavadie Spa, which is only around a 25-minute drive away and well worth a visit. Just be prepared to deal with some midges as they can be pesky! A big thank you to Angie for being so friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. We’d happily recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a peaceful base to explore the area and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Lovely site with a little walk trail with a stream at the back. Owner is awesome too. Site has wash facilities, toilets and if your camping a little public kitchen. We lived our stay. We will be back again. But for longer next time.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Annie was very helpful pointing us in the right direction for our stay . The site is idyllic. Well spaced pitches, clean, warm facilities with the quirkiness chemical toilet ever! Amy's sourdough and bread pudding was gorgeous.
