About Yarn Market Hotel
Dunster's High Street, with Exmoor rising beyond the rooftops and the coastal paths not far off, is where Yarn Market Hotel makes its home. The building sits among the town's old stone shopfronts, giving guests a proper base for exploring both the village itself and the moorland and coastline around it.
Inside, the 27 rooms are en suite, with family rooms and accessible rooms among them, and free WiFi throughout. The hotel has been updated in recent years, and facilities run to a restaurant and bar, an indoor swimming pool, a spa and sauna, and a garden to sit out in. Breakfast, room service and laundry service are all available, and there's a lift for those who'd rather skip the stairs. Free on-site parking takes the stress out of arriving by car.
Dogs are welcome, which along with the family rooms makes this an easy choice for those travelling with pets or children. Beyond the front door there's cycling and walking country, golf and fishing nearby, watersports along the coast, and further places to eat within walking distance. The hotel also takes weddings and meetings, with function space set aside for both.

What guests say
From the moment we arrived at the Yarn Market Hotel, we were enveloped in warmth and genuine hospitality. This charming, old-fashioned hotel is everything you hope for in a countryside retreat; welcoming staff, spotless rooms, and an atmosphere that feels like stepping into a gentler time. The food was a standout: hearty, delicious, and clearly prepared with care. Whether it was breakfast or dinner, every meal was served with a smile and a sense of pride. The service throughout our stay was impeccable - attentive without being intrusive, and always friendly. What really sets the Yarn Market Hotel apart is its authenticity. It’s not trying to be trendy or flashy, it’s simply a lovely, clean, and comfortable place run by people who genuinely care. Nestled in the beautiful medieval village of Dunster, it’s the perfect base for exploring Exmoor or just relaxing in timeless surroundings. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful escape with character, comfort, and heart.

We’re currently at the end of a wonderful stay at the Yarn Market Hotel in Dunster. My partner, myself and our energetic Husky have enjoyed every moment. We arrived one day earlier than our organised dog walking holiday to have a ‘proper’ break and are so pleased that we extended our stay. The family room we were allocated is very spacious and comfortable. The food served at the restaurant is delicious - we’ve eaten both breakfast and dinner and considering we’ve been putting in the mileage these past few days, the Classic Breakfast has served us well until the evening! It is requested, if staying for dinner if you could make your choice of dishes-this is so that the very freshest ingredients can be sourced. The menu changes daily and there are four choices to each course, with a vegan/vegetarian option available without fail. Every single member of staff is friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Our main interaction was with Anthony and Mark who have been wonderful with their great knowledge of the area and courtesy. Thank you so very much for making our time in Dunster a fantastic holiday.

We stayed here some days on a tour through the South West of England. We had an absolute lovely time. Antony and his crew are very helpful. The rooms are good sized and clean. Service is spot on, every time of the day. He got on the coach with us and showed us the beauty of the Exmoor National Park. He was a great addition to the program and i can’t thank them enough!

Well, what can I say? The Quilling Guild's first-ever residential break experience at the Yarn Market Hotel was perfect in every way! Comfortable rooms, delicious food (tailored to our requirements), superb location, a spacious and well-equipped hobby room for our exclusive use ... just brilliant! Better still, nothing was too much trouble for Antony and his excellent team who looked after us so well and arranged transport for sightseeing trips to some truly wonderful places without us even asking! This hotel is just perfect for a residential hobby break such as ours, and we will be back (return trip booked already!)
