About The Luttrell Arms Hotel
The Luttrell Arms stands at the top of Dunster's High Street, directly opposite the octagonal Yarn Market and beneath the wooded knoll carrying Dunster Castle. Parts of the building date to the fifteenth century, when it served as a guest house for the abbots of Cleeve, and the medieval fabric is still very much on show: stone fireplaces, a hall with a hammerbeam roof, mullioned windows and a warren of staircases that no two guests navigate the same way.
There are 28 en suite bedrooms, individually decorated and varying considerably in size and character, from snug doubles under the eaves to substantial rooms with four-posters and castle views. Public rooms include two bars, a series of sitting rooms with open fires and a terraced garden climbing the hillside behind the hotel, which is an unexpectedly peaceful spot on a summer afternoon.
Food is a serious part of the operation, with an accomplished restaurant using Exmoor lamb, venison and West Country fish, alongside a more informal bar menu and a good showing of local ales. The position is close to ideal for a first visit to the national park: the castle, watermill and packhorse bridge are all within a few minutes' walk, Minehead and the coast are ten minutes by car, and the road up to Dunkery Beacon leaves the village directly.

We had a meal here yesterday evening in the restaurant as it was recommended. The food was cooked fresh to order and was very tasty. I had the vegetable Thai curry with jasmine rice and my partner had the pie of the day. There was a slight delay with our second course as the order got lost. This was professionally rectified by Fred and we had a complimentary drink. Would recommend. All staff were excellent. Thank you. 🙏

A lovely hotel, well situated in the picturesque town of Dunster with the castle looking over it. We stayed as a group with three rooms, which were quite different from each other but all well appointed, interesting and quirky in their own ways. We ate on the Sunday evening, which meant we had mostly roast dinners which were delicious, as we're the fish and chips that one of our group had. All the staff were lovely, and very helpful, and helped with the overall satisfaction that we all had with our stay. Be aware that there is one golden rule though, never request an omelette after 9:30am!

Had lunch here today . They made us especially welcome . Great grandparents , daughter, granddaughters. And two great grandsons. All accommodated superbly. Sian was super kind to us , finding us a quiet place at the front of the hotel . Lunch was enjoyed but us all , accompanied by a couple of rounds of drinks, all served by excellent staff. Sian , thank you so much, you’ve helped to make the little one’s 1st birthday tomorrow something that the whole party can’t stop talking about . We will be back!

This is a great place and we had a lovely time with our dog outside (bar garden), with plenty of dog bowls and space made available. The food was correct, although a bit pricey given there is service at the bar.
