The kitchen has an electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave, so you can cook as little or as much as you like. Bed linen and towels are provided, along with wi-fi and heating throughout. A woodburner sits in the living area if you want a fire—fuel costs extra. The bathroom has a bath with shower over it, and there's a separate toilet downstairs for convenience.
The cottage sleeps six across three bedrooms: a double, two singles, and a bunk bed. One small pet is welcome. You have private parking for two cars and your own hot tub in the garden. The 60-acre grounds are shared with other holiday properties on-site, but they're yours to roam—there's fishing available if you have a licence. A games room with a full-size snooker table and an indoor heated swimming pool (9m by 5m) are open 9am to 9pm daily, along with a sauna. The cottage suits families and couples taking a break near Durham Dales, within reach of castles and museums. No smoking indoors.

Me and 13 members of my family stayed here for 2 nights and it was fantastic. The property (Hartwell cottage) is to a high standard with a great space for the whole family to gather. The hot tub is great but the real gem is the pool which the kids absolutly loved and kept them entertained for hours.

What an amazing peaceful and relaxing place to stay, your own space with all the amenities plus the added advantage of the hot jacuzzi and swimming pool. Home away from home with the extra gift of the view and the starry sky. Every time we visit Bowlees we all have so much fun but so much peace. Can’t wait to return! Thanks Viv and Tony!

Lovely cottage, pool, games room and hot tub were fab. Hosts were super friendly and the house contained all amenities we could’ve needed. Area is perfect for dogs and lovely scenery. We stayed in Durham Cottage and it was great size for 8 of us. Would definitely recommend! :)
