You arrive at Fawn Lea Cottage to find a comfortable open-plan ground floor: living and dining spaces flowing into a kitchen with electric cooker and all the basics for self-catering, plus a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs, two bedrooms each contain two single beds, served by a bathroom with a bath and shower. The whole property is yours alone, with wifi, heating, bed linen and towels all covered.

The cottage occupies a quiet courtyard setting in Staindrop village, where the shop, post office, pub and tea room sit just 500 yards away. An enclosed garden with patio and seating provides outdoor space, and private parking is on site. One dog stays free. The location opens onto serious walking country: footpaths lead directly from the door across Teesdale's fells and meadows, and Raby Castle lies within walking distance. Durham is thirty minutes' drive; Barnard Castle eight minutes; the North East coast, Lake District and York are all within an hour.

No smoking throughout. Pets are welcome; one can stay with you at no extra cost.
