The countryside around Durham holds several converted farm buildings, but few have been restored quite like Rowley Stone Cottages. Originally barns, dairies and hay stores from the 1600s, they now function as five holiday homes set across 20 acres of private grounds. Peewit Cottage is one of them: a ground-floor property that sleeps four in two double bedrooms, with a bathroom containing a walk-in double shower and a spacious open-plan living area arranged around an electric fire.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering—induction hob, electric oven, dishwasher, coffee machine and a washer dryer are all here. Essentials like bed linen, towels, wi-fi and electricity come as standard. The real draw, though, is outside: a private hot tub in the back garden, with access to a shared sauna and ice bath elsewhere on the estate. The garden also has a barbecue and seating area. Two cars can park on the property, and one small dog is welcome.
The development operates as a gated community with daytime concierge service and a reception where you'll collect your keys and a welcome pack on arrival. Rowley Baptist Church is nearby, and Durham's city centre is within reach for exploring the cathedral and riverside walks.
