Hamsterley Forest's trails are accessible for mountain biking, while the C2C route passes nearby for those on two wheels. On foot, the rolling Dales and Pennine views begin from the property itself. The village high street has pubs, tea shops, a butcher, baker and gift shops within a short walk.
This three-bedroom house sleeps six and is yours alone for the duration of your stay. Ground floor holds a living room with smart TV and electric wood burner, and a kitchen-dining room where you can cook proper meals—oven, hob, dishwasher, and everything else needed. Upstairs are three bedrooms: one double and single, one double, and one single. There is one shower room. The essentials—heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi—are covered. Outside, a small enclosed courtyard has a barbecue and seating; there's bike storage and on-road parking.
One dog is welcome to stay for free. The property does not permit smoking. Check-in is after 14:30 and checkout before 10:00.

We have being coming here for around 12 years and the food has always being ok. My food tonight was terrible lamb kofters very boring no flavour at all slaw was cold red cabbage very disappointing wont be ordering again . I should have know better as we very rarely eat her but we like the hotel ..nice menu but foods not great

The Croft is a beautiful hotel with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. One of its hidden gems is the chapel, which is truly breathtaking and something you would never expect when you first walk in. We couldn’t resist having a look around, and it was absolutely stunning. We dined in the restaurant, and the interior was just as impressive—stylish, elegant, and inviting. The food was exceptional. Chef Ray prepared an amazing meal; I had the katsu chicken, which was delicious, but the coriander pickled salad was absolutely incredible and a real highlight of the dish. The service was outstanding, with Megan making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Thank you for such a lovely experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back.

Myself and my husband got married on the 22nd May 2026 and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. We previously looked at other venues before falling in love with this venue as soon as the doors opened my husband James said this is the venue. The venue is absolutely beautiful full of charm and character and the staff went above and beyond to make everything seamless. From the ceremony to the reception, every detail was handled with care and professionalism. Every meeting with our wedding planner from the apartment group to the wedding coordinator on the day always on hand to answer all questions. Our guests are still talking about the amazing food and warm atmosphere. We got married at the Croft. We chose the Croft because of the beautiful aesthetics and there's so much more to it. The whole experience was so easy and straight-forward. You can really tell this is a wedding venue that knows that it's doing. The booking process was super easy. The planning process too. And the whole day ran increadible smoothly. I love how organised everyone is and how willing they are to make your wedding be the wedding you want. They put out all our decor on the day too! Could not fault it and we're so happy we got to get married in this beautiful venue. The basic rooms are nice and clean, the deluxe rooms are beautiful, and the bridal suite and honeymoon suite are absolutely stunnning! Special thanks to Kenzie our coordinator and Jamie our on the day coordinator. You lovely ladies are amaying and we are grateful for your help!
