Forthview Luxury Lodges - Mary Queen of Scott’s Lodge

East Lothian

Photo: Forthview Luxury Lodges

Mary Queen of Scots Lodge is a detached, single-storey building designed for couples seeking seclusion in the heart of rural East Lothian. The lodge sits on elevated ground above Tranent, with panoramic views across the surrounding fields and towards the coast. A single bedroom with a kingsize bed, a shower room, and an open-plan living space with kitchen occupy the whole ground floor; everything is on one level, with three steps to the entrance. The hot tub for six sits privately outside, where the views across the countryside are especially striking. Bed linen and towels are provided, along with electricity; the heating is gas-fired and the kitchen is equipped for self-catering. Two cars can park on site.

The lodge has genuine historical resonance. Near Faside Estate, the property nods to the region's connection with Mary Queen of Scots and the sixteenth-century turmoil that shaped East Lothian. Walkers will find routes through the surrounding landscape, and the locality puts you within reach of the villages and landmarks of the county. The setting is notably quiet, which suits anyone wanting to step away rather than stay close to nightlife or attractions. No smoking is permitted inside, and children under sixteen are not welcome. Check-in is after 4pm and checkout before 10am.

Just spent the weekend at Forth View, the lodge was really nice, very clean with everything you need, nice hot tub, and the views are stunning. It’s very peaceful so a good nights kip is guaranteed, and Bridget the owner is a lovely woman. We struggled to get a taxi into the city for a gig through pure lack of preparation, Bridget said jump in the car il take you, completely unexpected and very much appreciated. If you’re up there for a gig you will know what hotels charge for a room for the night in the centre, make it a weekend and stay here instead. You wont be disappointed

Beautiful Lodge, super clean and cozy with an amazing view! Definitely recommend! We stayed 4 nights and had the most wonderful time. We explored Edinburgh and the surrounding area by day (via rental car) and spend the evenings relaxing in the hot tub enjoying the view. Bridget was kind and showed us around when we arrived and gave some good recommendations for activities and restaurants. Would definitely recommend it for relaxing getaways.

Had such a great experience staying here! Lovely host. You have an amazing view from the lodge and hot tub, with horses on the other side of the fence☺️ The lodge itself is well kept, beautifully furnished and plenty of utilities. Such a short distance to shops and nearby towns, with a very short train ride into Edinburgh city! I couldn’t recommend more⭐️
