The Boathouse

The River Deben runs past this one-bedroom cottage in East Suffolk, close enough to watch the water from the garden. A recent renovation has left it with a modern kitchen, underfloor heating on the ground floor, and French doors from the bedroom onto a small balcony. You get the whole place to yourself—there's parking for one car, and wifi is included.

Downstairs is open-plan: living area, kitchen with electric oven and hob, and a bathroom with both bath and walk-in shower. Upstairs, a vaulted ceiling over the bedroom with a kingsize bed. Outside, three separate patio areas overlook the river. The property sits near the owners' private quay, which is accessible at high water for launching canoes, paddleboards and other small craft; fishing is also possible from the water's edge. The Suffolk Coastal Path runs close by, and the area draws walkers, cyclists and bird watchers. Aldeburgh, Southwold and Orford are within driving distance. Note that there is an unfenced pond on the grounds, roughly five yards from the cottage. No smoking inside.
