About Afton Hotel
Eastbourne's seafront and coastal attractions are within easy reach of Cavendish Place, where the Afton Hotel offers 54 rooms across a traditional town-centre building. It's a straightforward base for exploring the town, with the beach and promenade not far from the door.
Rooms are kept warm and the restaurant serves a three-course evening meal, with breakfast included and free WiFi throughout. Staff are consistently helpful, and the hotel welcomes pets and hosts weddings, with luggage storage on hand for early arrivals or late departures. That said, some parts of the building show their age, and maintenance can be patchy in places, so this suits guests after decent value rather than polish.
For the price, the combination of hearty food, warm rooms and friendly service makes the Afton a sensible choice for a seaside stay, with Eastbourne's coastline and attractions close by for day-to-day exploring.

We booked Room 200 and had a terrible experience. After we turned off the lights, we noticed bedbugs crawling on the bed at around 12:00Am We were unable to sleep for the rest of the night We tried to contact the reception by calling the emergency number several times, but no one answered. As a result, we had no assistance throughout the night. When the reception opened in the morning, we immediately reported the issue and showed the staff photographs of the bedbugs. Instead of apologizing, one of the supervisors was extremely rude and accused us of bringing the bedbugs from outside. This accusation was completely unacceptable and insulting. We also asked to speak with the manager, but the manager never came to meet us. We were told that he had been instructed not to come. This experience was completely unacceptable. We lost an entire night’s sleep, received no emergency assistance, and were treated disrespectfully when we reported a serious hygiene issue. We expect this matter to be investigated and resolved appropriately.

I had my 2nd visit at the afton Hotel. Both times stayed in the same room which was large, lovely view and had a bath. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Yes room is a bit basic but has everything you need.

I stayed at this hotel for one night and overall it was quite good for the price. The room was decent—clean and comfortable enough for a short stay. It also had a nice sea view, which made the stay more enjoyable. It wasn’t anything luxurious, but it had everything I needed. Considering the cost, I think it offers good value. Would recommend it if you’re looking for a budget-friendly option.
