Lansdowne Hotel Eastbourne

We spent two nights here and booked three sea-facing rooms. My husband and I had a lovely spacious room, while my dad’s room was rather poky and narrow with a single bed. My son’s room was more spacious with a three-quarter bed. It’s a lovely hotel that has been modernised beautifully while still retaining its old-world charm. The rooms are comfortable, the shower and bath worked well, and tea and instant coffee are provided. However, during warm weather the rooms can become rather hot at night. We enjoyed drinks twice in the charming Cuckmere Lounge in the lobby area. Drinks are ordered at the bar, while hot beverages are brought to your table. The hot chocolate, as well as the Bailey’s hot chocolate, was excellent. We also had a lovely dinner in the hotel restaurant, 1912. The breakfast is decent and ticks all the boxes, although the coffee is rather weak and really needs an extra espresso shot or two. Overlooking the seafront and promenade, this is a good choice for holidaymakers visiting Eastbourne. We were there during the May carnival weekend, so it was a little noisy outside until around midnight, but overall we had a very pleasant stay.

Booked a one night stay for my daughter and I who was competing in a dance competition at the theatres nearby. Great location. On the seafront and not a long walk from the station. Checkin quick and friendly. Room a great size and clean. Would recommend.

After spending the Easter Bank Holiday weekend at this lovely establishment, it was very hard to leave and head back home to London! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the service from staff was helpful and always with a smile. My Fiancé/Best Friend and I stayed in a cosy double room on the 3rd floor with a Seaview for 3 nights. The room was warm, clean and tastefully presented - reflecting a contemporary balance while nodding to the family-history and feel of the hotel via the traditional, wooden furniture. The bathroom was a good size which my Fiancé/Best Friend appreciated for his 6 foot 2, lean frame. It was a very easy room to stay in and to enjoy when we returned from our outings and gentle walks. The location of the hotel is perfect for easy strolls alongside the sea front and only 10 mins drive or so from Beachy Head. We have stayed in several hotels in Eastbourne over many years but having breakfast here was one of the best we have had. The quality of continental, warm and cold options for breakfast were delicious. On arrival (and for the duration of breakfast), Rose (and her colleagues) made us smile each time. For our final night, we decided to dine in at their 1912 restaurant and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed a good bottle of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon alongside a 10oz Ribeye steak with fries, mushroom sauce and tomatoes on the vine with the Catch of the Day (Salmon), sautéed potatoes and seasonal vegetables, Mango sorbet and Peach & Elderflower Eton Mess. Afterwards, we enjoyed sitting talking and laughing together in one of the lounge spaces - the comfortable sofas and armchairs make you feel like you're at home in your own living room! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back - we literally can't wait! If you ever visit Eastbourne for a long weekend (or longer), the Lansdowne Hotel is thoroughly recommended. Thank you to all the staff (and the lovely guests we met and talked with during our stay).

Good size hotel with plenty of lounge areas and a good bar. The sea view room was a good size, very well decorated, very clean, well presented and well furnished. The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast is very good quality with plenty of choice available. Overall, a good quality sea side hotel and the only reason I've not given a five is to reflect a slightly tired bathroom with an ok shower (I'm being picky) which really only showed up because the rest of the room was so well presented.
