About Novotel Edinburgh Centre

Novotel Edinburgh Centre works well for families and anyone who wants sightseeing without sacrificing comfort. Set on Lauriston Place, it puts Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile within easy reach, while inside there's an indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna to unwind in after a day on your feet. Pets are welcome too, so it suits a wider range of travellers than most city-centre hotels.

The 180 rooms are on the spacious side, with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and city views from some, plus family rooms for those travelling with children. It's worth knowing that a few rooms show their age in terms of upkeep, so don't expect everything to be pristine. Breakfast is a genuine highlight, with a wide buffet spread that includes a waffle maker, and there's also a restaurant, bar, snack bar, room service and packed lunches for early starts.

Staff are consistently helpful, and practical extras like a gym, business and meeting facilities, laundry service and concierge support make this as suited to work trips as to leisure stays. On-site parking is available for a charge, and with restaurants, pubs and entertainment nearby, guests have plenty of options once they step outside.

We had a great stay at the Novotel! The rooms were tidy and spacious for a family of 3. The breakfast has everything you need and the fruit and veg are fresh as! I can also highly recommend „the tap“ restaurant at the hotel: we’ve had the fish and chips as well as the red pepper hummus and it was amazing! Ackthan and all of the other employees are super family-friendly and helpful and have given us great tips on places to go with our 1 y.o. We’re looking forward to our next visit at the Novotel. Thank you!

We booked this hotel as offered car park which stated didn’t need to reserve as always had spaces available. On arrival, no spaces available in the car park directing us to an expensive NPC car park to park all night which was 10 mins away in the car. When doing the check in no explanations of the room, preferences or further add ons in the hotel. Poor welcome experience more like there’s your key and there you go. Couldn’t even direct us to the lift. The room was big (had the executive one) but there was no privacy on the toilet or shower being see through in the room, the tap is in the middle of the room not even in a cubicle. Very very hot room and no air con available with quilts on in summer!? Wouldn’t recommend at all. Safe your money to a nicer and cheaper hotel. Definitely not worth the money.

Overall, we had a very good stay. The hotel was actually better than some 4-star hotels we’ve stayed in London. Everything was very clean, the furniture was modern, and the beds were very comfortable with a great mattress. The only downside was the bathroom layout. The toilet is in a separate room without a sink, so you need to go to the main bathroom to wash your hands. It felt a bit unusual and not very practical. Check-in could have been handled better. We arrived early and understood rooms weren’t ready, so we left our bags and went out. When we returned around 1pm, we were reminded that check-in was at 3pm. We waited at the bar, but no one informed us when rooms became available. After checking again ourselves, a room was ready. A small update from reception would have been appreciated. Overall, a pleasant stay and we would return.

This is a lovely hotel! But they do not have rooms for 5 people and they take that pretty seriously. They let me stay with five because my fifth was a toddler. Really I needed to get a second room but they were fully booked. I was very grateful they let me keep the toddler in the room. It's very clean, very comfortable, and the pool was a huge hit with the kids! My husband and I loved the sauna!
