About Premier Inn Edinburgh Central Lauriston Place
Premier Inn Edinburgh Central Lauriston Place is a five-storey, purpose-built hotel with 112 rooms, standing on a busy street close to the heart of the Old Town. Its scale and straightforward modern design make it a practical base rather than a period property, with a lift serving all floors and accessible rooms available for those who need them.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, free WiFi and drinks available in-room, and the beds and showers are a particular strength, consistently singled out as comfortable and well maintained. There's a restaurant and bar on site, plus breakfast, which many find good value when added to the room rate. Staff are generally friendly and helpful, though service at busier times can be a little slow.
The location is the main draw: Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile are both within easy reach, and the surrounding streets offer plenty of pubs, restaurants and entertainment, along with a golf course nearby for those wanting to venture further. Parking isn't available on site, but chargeable parking can be found nearby.

Absutely stunning! The hotel in itself is a standard 3 star hotel in a wonderfull location but what it makes the difference is the staff. Thank you very much to Gee and Monika that have been super patience with me a my group of students. Breakfast great. We had 2 dinners with different menu’ each evening: good quality and excellent staff. Our room was big enough for 4 people. You need to ask every day for the room service but once you are use to it, it is even a daily good English exercise. I will reccomend it all day long. 5* well deserved it

Our stay at Premier Inn Lauriston Place in Edinburgh started rough. The first night, the AC in our room was broken and there was a strong, unusual odor. The front desk was accommodating and moved us immediately, and the new room was comfortable with no further issues. However, the rest of our experience was disappointing. The front desk was consistently unstaffed. A buzzer on the desk appeared non-functional — pressing it did nothing — so we were left waiting for staff to appear. When we did reach them, they were always polite and friendly. We only ate at the hotel restaurant once, for breakfast. It was self-serve with a decent selection. Later that week, my husband tried to dine there around 7pm while my daughters and I were out shopping. He was refused service because the kitchen closed in an hour and staff said they wouldn’t serve him alone, but would happily serve us if the whole family was present. In all my years of hotel stays, I’ve never encountered that policy. After returning home, my daughter realized she may have left an item in the room. I called immediately and was told someone would check and call back in 10 minutes. An hour passed with no call. Multiple follow-up calls went unanswered. I then contacted Premier Inn via WhatsApp and was promised a callback from Lauriston Place within 24–48 hours. Two days later, still nothing. I emailed the hotel directly and, as of writing this review, have received no response from either the hotel or Premier Inn. This is by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I cannot recommend Premier Inn Lauriston Place in Edinburgh, or any Premier Inn, if this reflects their standard of guest service. I dislike leaving negative reviews, but this experience was so far outside the norm that I felt it needed to be shared.

Nice comfortable room , with good facilities , the bed lovely , could do with a fridge as there isn't one . Very clean and love that there were mugs rather than tiny cups for tea/coffee. Unfortunately there is zero soundproofing and you can hear ever word spoken from next door . Ok if you have quiet neighbours but not if they are noisy which unfortunately we had . Breakfast is not great if the hotel is busy . One or Two staff do their best but it is too much for them . Not enough staff leads to dirty tables and run out of food , its not the easiest or most organised of dining rooms . Dinner was nice and we did a special deal of £26.99 including two courses , drink and all inclusive breakfast the next day . We found the staff very helpful and friendly but just not enough staff at busy times . The location is good , just a bit of a steep climb back from the tram and princes street . I would definitely stay here again though. A big thankyou to all the staff who work here .

Dear Premier Inn Team, I’m writing to share my disappointment following our check-in today at your Lauriston Place, Edinburgh branch. We arrived around midday and were willing to pay extra for early check-in, but were told rooms wouldn’t be ready until 3 pm. We understood and waited, hoping earlier access might still be possible. When it became clear that wasn’t an option, we left our bags and went out for lunch. We returned around 2:45 pm and joined the queue. Though guests who arrived after us were served first, we remained patient. When our turn came, we received our keys, but were then asked to wait for our bags. We accepted this, though by then we were already tired. When we politely followed up with the other colleague, the same staff member responded very abruptly, very rudely, telling us to wait again as they were busy and accusing us of arguing, despite our only request being to prioritize us over guests who had not yet checked in. The exchange felt disrespectful, especially in front of other visitors, and there was no attempt to help or empathise. ...The staff seemed underprepared and overwhelmed by the rush, which may have contributed to the poor service, but unfortunately it didn’t excuse the lack of courtesy. As a family whose other partner works for Premier Inn, we’ve stayed at several of your hotels and have always been treated well—making this experience all the more disappointing. We’ll only be here for one night and are unlikely to return to this branch. I hope this feedback is useful for improving future guest experiences. Kind regards, Namrata
