What visitors say

I came to volunteer during a SEN school holiday summer programme. The Pods is great. The staff all seemed friendly and helpful. There was ample facilities including sports hall, swimming pools, gym, meeting rooms, cafe, etc. The cafe has a very varied range of food and drink. The brownie was the best I've had in years. The meeting room we used had air con, which was great. The one weakness was that the sports hall doesn't seem to have air-conditioning, which isn't great in the room you're moving about in. The heat in there is overwhelming. For a relatively new building, you'd expect air con to be throughout.

I visited The Pods swimming pool in Scunthorpe with a group of friends yesterday. Some of us were confident swimmers, while a few of us were beginners. We were shown a lane and told that we could use it from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm, with another lane opening after 6:00 pm. While we were using the pool, a member of staff approached our group and told us that the area was not for us. She offered to refund the money, but the way the situation was handled felt very uncomfortable and disrespectful. The comment asking whether we could understand what she was saying came across as particularly inappropriate and made us feel singled out. We understand that pool rules and safety instructions need to be followed, and we are happy to respect them. However, staff should communicate clearly and respectfully with all customers. We hope the centre reviews how situations like this are handled so that everyone feels welcome and treated fairly.

Freindly and helpful. Everytime I go there is plenty to do. The staff are nice and helped me allot when I first started going to the gym. I usually would get nervous where I don't know people but I'm in a quite room which helps with my anxiety. Great place

I had a very disappointing experience at this swimming pool. We were a group of six, and the pool was not busy at all. A woman approached us and said, “If you can’t swim, this place is not for you.” She then asked if we could even understand what she was saying, which came across as racist, insulting, and completely unacceptable. She also told us that if we couldn’t swim, we should leave and that she would give us a refund. Her attitude was incredibly rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional. No one should be made to feel unwelcome or discriminated against because of their background or swimming ability. It was a humiliating experience and completely ruined our visit. I hope the management takes this complaint seriously and ensures that all customers are treated with dignity and respect. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this place.
