What visitors say
Lullingstone Roman Villa is a truly remarkable historic site and one of the most interesting places I have visited. It is carefully and thoughtfully arranged around the remains of an ancient Roman country house dating back to the time of the Roman Empire. The whole site gives a strong sense of history, but at the same time it feels very well protected and respectfully preserved. What impressed me most was the way the archaeological remains are sheltered. A large protective building has been constructed around the excavations, which helps to protect them from difficult weather conditions and, of course, from possible vandalism. This has been done very carefully, without taking away from the atmosphere of the place. The building is practical, comfortable for visitors, and nicely designed, allowing you to walk around the remains and appreciate them properly. There are clear information boards throughout the site, explaining what you are looking at and helping visitors understand the layout of the villa, its rooms, mosaics, and historical significance. This makes the visit enjoyable even if you are not a specialist in Roman history. The guided tour was also excellent. The guide explained the history of the excavations, what was discovered there, and what these findings tell us about Roman life in Britain. The use of visual materials made the story even more engaging and easy to follow. It was fascinating to imagine how people lived in this villa many centuries ago. There is also a small shop where visitors can buy souvenirs, snacks, and drinks, which makes the visit even more convenient. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit to Lullingstone Roman Villa. It is an impressive, well-maintained, and educational historic site. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in Roman Britain, archaeology, or simply discovering a beautifully preserved piece of ancient history.

Had a great visit to the Roman Villa. Friendly welcome, interesting video about the history etc. Then up to the viewing area where very knowledgeable volunteers told us more about it. Highly recommended, we will definitely return when usual tour reopens. We enjoyed it so much we bought annual membership of English Heritage.

We couldn’t have full access to the site as they have mould issues but the guide was so informative it more than made up for it .

Some consider this site the birth of Christianity in England. A wonderfully preserved site and full of information. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely the best Roman villa I've ever visited and I will keep returning. For reference I visited several times a few years ago and evidently forgot to review so fixing my mistake.
