The Haymakers stands on a working farm in open countryside near Linlithgow, surrounded by farmland with roughly two miles of grassy tracks running through the property—ideal for walking or cycling, and a natural playground if you have dogs. The village itself is three miles away; Edinburgh lies twenty miles north, and Stirling twenty-four miles west, both reached via the nearby M9 junction.
The cottage accommodates four people across two bedrooms—one with a king-size bed and one with two single beds—plus two shower rooms. Downstairs, the living and dining space centres on a wood burner (initial logs included), and opens through patio doors to an enclosed garden with furniture. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering: oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine all present. Essentials like bed linen, towels, electricity and wi-fi are covered; heating comes from a ground source system. One dog can stay free of charge.
Linlithgow itself has pubs, restaurants and a train station with direct services to Edinburgh. The farm sits within reach of several historic properties including Hopetoun House and Linlithgow Palace. It is a working farm, so no smoking is permitted in the cottage. Horse stabling and a bike store are available if needed.

The Old Mill - We recently stayed at Paddockhall as a family of four, along with our dog, and absolutely loved it. The amenities were excellent, the surrounding walks are stunning, and it’s perfectly located next to Champany and Mannerstons. The house itself is cosy, comfortable, and just perfect, we’ve honestly never stayed in such a well thought out dog-friendly lodge before. We enjoyed it so much that we’ve already booked to come back again in a few weeks! Thank you for hosting us!

We had a wonderful stay at Paddockhall Cottages (Speed The Plough). The property is excellently run — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained. The surroundings are peaceful and relaxing, perfect for unwinding and enjoying the countryside. Everything we needed was provided. Our kids especially loved visiting the horses in the stables and feeding them apples and carrots — a real highlight of the stay! Five minutes from the quaint town of Linlithgow. Train line to Edinburgh, Stirling and Glasgow. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet retreat in beautiful surroundings! #scotland #linlithgow #farm #linlithgowpalace

Spacious, high quality accommodation. The cottage was beautiful and so well maintained. You have great road and rail connections on hand, but amazing countryside views. Highly recommend.

Simply WOW. Everything you need is provided and so much more. We stayed in Petronella for 7 nights and it was more than home from home, spotlessly clean, comfortable and beautiful views. Such a warm welcome with complimentary wine and biscuits on arrival. Paddockhall Farm is in an excellent spot for travel for day's out. We had an amazing time here and will definitely be returning ASAP. Thankyou to Wesley, family and team for such a wonderful stay.
