About Croft Cottage Camping
Set in the New Forest National Park at Godshill, Croft Cottage Camping is a pop-up site that opens for just 28 days each year. Owners Helen and Bill welcome guests from their 16th-century thatched cottage, which overlooks a field of well-spaced pitches beneath mature trees. Electric hook-ups are available, and facilities—two shower blocks, washing-up area, and EV charging—are simple but spotlessly maintained.
There's plenty to keep families busy: evening volleyball matches have become something of a tradition, kids can feed the alpacas and collect eggs from the free-range chickens, and table-tennis matches are always on. A welcoming pub sits 10 minutes' walk away, and the neighbouring holiday park has an essentials store.
The site's short opening window means booking can be competitive, but the charm and atmosphere make it worth planning ahead. For bigger stock-ups, Fordingbridge is five minutes by car, with a farm shop 10 minutes away.

Fantastic little camping trip with family and friends. A proper gem on the edge of the New Forest. Bill and Helen were fantastic hosts making us very welcome. Campsite has everything you need facilties wise while keeping the authentic camping vibe. Bill even let our children help feed the animals which they loved. Couldn't recommend it enough!

This is fantastic accomodation in a great location. Helen and Bill were such welcoming hosts. They introduced our little boy to the alpacas and the chickens - he was absolutely delighted. The Lodge wasn't just somewhere to stay - it was the highlight of our trip. ☺️

Our second visit to the lodge, it was great to see Bill and Helen again and made to feel so welcome. A great location and the kids enjoyed use of the all the play facilities provided. Our youngest loved helping to feed the animals in the morning and the location is perfect to explore the forest on foot. Also handy on the rainy day are the passes for Sandy balls as the girls managed to get in plenty of swimming and make use of the gym. The lodge was clean and comfy as usual and now has the added bonus of Netflix added for those relaxing evenings. We look forward to returning again soon.

Amazing little camp site. Bill made us feel very welcomed here. He arranged volley ball in the evening for children and adults which was very nice indeed. In the morning, Bill brought the children to feed 3 lovely alpacas and chicken. He gave us the eggs from the chicken which were super delicious. Toilets and showers were very clean. There was hot water for shower and washing up sink.
