Sandy Balls Holiday Village
Sandy Balls New Forest Holiday Village, Southampton Rd, Fordingbridge SP6 2JZ, UK
Full-facility holiday park on the Avon at Fordingbridge, strong for families
About Sandy Balls Holiday Village
Sandy Balls spreads across 120 acres of woodland on the River Avon at Godshill, just outside Fordingbridge on the national park's north-western edge. The name comes from sandy gravel domes on the estate, but this is one of the most developed holiday parks in the area—more resort than traditional campsite. Touring and tent pitches sit in terraced woodland clearings alongside lodges, statics and glamping pods. Facilities are comprehensive: indoor and outdoor pools, gym and spa, restaurants, bar, well-stocked shop, bike hire, playground and a school-holiday activity programme covering bushcraft, archery and Nerf games. Free WiFi reaches across the park, serviced pitches offer full hook-ups, and shower blocks are modern and heated. Resident alpacas reliably entertain small children.
This is a site for families who want plenty laid on rather than forest solitude. Avon valley walks start from the gate, Fordingbridge is a mile away, and Salisbury is closer than most New Forest bases at around thirty minutes. Pitch prices start from roughly £25 outside peak season but climb steeply for August and half-terms, with lodges priced considerably higher.

What visitors say
We stayed with our 15-month-old, and it was perfect for a family with a toddler. The outdoor swimming pool was fantastic during the heatwave, and there were plenty of open spaces and walks around the resort to explore. We visited outside of peak season, so while the site was busy, it still felt peaceful and never overcrowded. I imagine it would be much busier during school holidays, so that's worth bearing in mind if you prefer a quieter stay. Our caravan was spotless and in excellent condition, it genuinely looked brand new. It had everything we needed and felt really comfortable. The facilities around the resort are perhaps a little dated in places, but they were always clean, well-maintained, and felt safe, which was far more important to us than having brand-new amenities. The restaurants on site were great, with a good choice of food, but I'd definitely recommend booking in advance as they filled up quickly, even during our stay. There's also a lovely pub around a 15-minute walk from the resort if you fancy eating out. The evening entertainment was great for young children and gave us something to do after dinner. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and wouldn't hesitate to return

We had the most wonderful time on the alpaca walk at Sandy Balls! From start to finish, the experience was relaxed, friendly, and incredibly well organised. The staff were welcoming and clearly passionate about the animals, giving us a great introduction and plenty of interesting facts about the alpacas before we set off. The alpacas themselves were absolutely adorable — gentle, full of character, and surprisingly great walking companions! The setting made it even more special, with beautiful surroundings that made for a peaceful and scenic stroll. It felt like a truly unique way to spend time outdoors. Whether you’re visiting as a couple, family, or group of friends, I can’t recommend this experience enough. It was fun, wholesome, and something we’ll be talking about for a long time. A definite highlight of our visit — we’d happily do it again!

Just returned from 3 nights 4 adults 4 grandchildren! Loved it ! So did they. Yes it’s a little bit tired, staff work really hard but not enough of them! Had a meal out in Aubury restaurant, manager working under intense stress but so professional thank you! The pool was a godsend in the heat! A few brollies would have been welcomed !! Indoor pool very dated and tired! But out door pool clean considering the volume of people . Prices for activities ridiculous prices when you have 4 young children! Bar prices quite high! Just needs updating surroundings, our lodge was fantastic, spotless , roomy, loved hot tub! Thank you for our stay 😀😀😀😀

This resort is in a great relaxing location where you can hear nature singing away, and there are plenty of lovely walks nearby with many parking bay scattered around. The cabin included the convenience of a parking space right outside. While the cabin was spacious and the on-site facilities were good—though most come at an extra charge—the attention to detail was sadly missed. I had to take one star off for service because when there was a problem with the heating. I rang the daytime number and was told someone would be over to assist. After waiting for over an hour assisstance never came, though thankfully after phoning the night number the guy sorted it out straight away. Unfortunately, the cabin's maintenance and cleanliness need some attention; there were missing coat hooks, ripped sofas, and dirty splash marks on the walls across the kitchen, living room, and bedroom (look sticky). The floors were not clean apon arrival so I kept my slippers on at all times. The bathroom had a cracked basin, black mould around the top of the bath, and the bottom of the bath had dirty stains which made me reluctant to have a bath and instead stuck to having a shower. Furthermore, guests must bring their own washing-up liquid and sponges, which clearly resulted in previous guests leaving the mugs, glasses, and plates dirty. Before using any equipment I had to wash everything before I could even use it. Despite these issues, I did overall enjoy my stay and would return in the hope that another cabin would not have these same problems.
