About Tom's Field

Tucked into the edge of the New Forest National Park near Fordingbridge, Tom's Field is a small, family-run weekend-and-bank-holiday campsite with direct access to open heath and forest where ponies and cows wander freely. The pitch-side woodland views are lovely, and you're well placed for walking and cycling straight from your tent, with the local community shop visiting each morning for fresh bread and essentials. New Forest Water Park lies 10 minutes' drive away, while proper beaches are half an hour down the road if you fancy a coastal plunge.

The family are usually on hand to help, and they sell firewood and barbecue fuel or hire out fire buckets for atmospheric evenings under the trees. A local pub is a 15-minute stroll away, with three more within an hour's walk if you're feeling energetic. Wild swimming in the River Avon at Fordingbridge adds another outdoorsy option. It's a straightforward, friendly base that gets you into the heart of the forest without fuss.

Its in the center of the New Forest which is wonderful, however, its also adjacent to a road. So if you're expecting a quiet Saturday afternoon in the countryside this isn't it. The New Forest is so popular there is a steady stream of cars going past, albeit at 40mph and its a single carriage way so its not not manic. It really does depend where your starting point and expectations are. It is much quieter than larger camp sites would be and they try their best to put off noisy groups. They have strict rules around 11.30 cut off times and if you book early, they keep one end more adults only. We lucked out 😔, we made a late booking, in the school holidays and although large groups are not allowed, three individual bookings of families who know each other meant lots of younger children running amoc and being noisy. Such a shame as other areas were so quiet. Toms Field cannot be held responsible for that. Pizza van looked amazing, but sadly we couldn't bring ourselves to sit amongst the chaos so we went out. Toilets and showers were good. Clean and plenty of them. Welcome was friendly and helpful. For some this would have been an ideal spot. But for us, we live in a quiet part of the country already so our noise tolerance is low and sadly it didn't work out.

Been here multiple times, and the view, staff, location and facilities are all absolutely incredible. It's in the most beautiful location, overlooking views of the new forest park in a couple directions, and right by multiple cycle/ walking trails. The staff are super friendly, and are always happy to help. Proper warm water showers, with clean and high level toilet facilities (non porta-loo) which you don't often find on campsites, which makes it even nicer. The only issue is there was nothing to dry hands with. It also includes free game activities in repetition, perfect if you forgot to bring something to keep yourself entertained. A suggestion, during dry periods of weather or drought, possibly providing buckets for water to be had around firepits could be a help. We do this, however it could be helpful for others on the camp during these conditions.

Brilliant site. Just spend 4 night there with my granson and we both loved it. Spotless showers and toilets and pitches. Very friendly staff, warm and welcoming. We will be going back. Once again thank you.

We had the most fantastic time, the accommodation was brilliant, and the toilets and showers were top notch best I've seen and used in a camping vacation. We stayed in one of the bell tents near the front they were clean and comfortable and really well presented and put together and the lady that runs them was super friendly and kind, and would definitely stay again. Plus the fire pit and gas cooker provided with the booking were brilliant. 🙏👍⛺🏕️
