Camping in Fordingbridge

Fordingbridge sits right on the edge of the New Forest National Park, and that proximity makes it a popular base for campers drawn to one of southern England's most distinctive landscapes of heath, ancient woodland pasture and free-roaming ponies. The terrain around Fordingbridge is generally level and easy going, with the Avon Valley providing gentle riverside walking and cycling, while the New Forest proper adds rougher heathland tracks and woodland trails a little further south. Late spring to early autumn is the best season for camping here, when the forest is driest underfoot and evenings are long enough for exploring; ground can be wet in winter, particularly near the river. For those who prefer a roof over their heads without giving up the outdoor feel, glamping options — from safari tents to shepherd's huts — are increasingly available at sites around Fordingbridge and across the wider New Forest, offering a comfortable middle ground between hotel and tent.
