Elm is a converted stable on the edge of Aylburton, a village deep in the Forest of Dean. You arrive at a single, ground-floor space where living, dining and sleeping all happen in one open room—a king bed at one end, a kitchen with induction hob and full cooking equipment at the other, and a comfortable seating area in between. The shower room and utility room sit separately. Everything is on one level, light and modern, but built into an older structure that keeps its character.

The essentials are covered: electricity, heating, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are included. Outside, there is an enclosed garden with seating and a barbecue, plus a larger lawned area beyond it—useful space for a dog (one pet stays free). You have private parking for one car, and an electric charging point is available if you need it. The property is part of a secure gated complex; an identical cottage next door can be booked separately if you need more beds. No smoking inside.

This suits a couple seeking quiet countryside time within reach of the Forest's walking and cycling routes. Lydney, with its estuary views, lies a short drive away.

My partner and I had a great long weekend away and couldn’t be happier with our stay. Easy to find and hassle free check in and the place was immaculate. The place had everything we needed and was well stocked so we didn’t need to buy any unnecessary extras and were given complimentary gifts and lots of luxury coffee which was much appreciated. The experience was amazing for the price and it genuinely felt like a holiday. The premises were extremely private and the outside seating was comfy and surrounded by flowers, lovely for eating dinner in the evening. We had plenty of recommendations and places to go during the day. Would highly recommend this Airbnb!

We had a fantastic 5-night stay here and couldn't have asked for a more relaxing break. We brought our dog, Barney, who was made to feel just as welcome as we were, and the location was perfect for exploring the beautiful Forest of Dean and surrounding areas. The host was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and nothing was ever too much trouble. The stable conversion was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and exceptionally well maintained, with everything we needed for a peaceful stay. The ground-floor accommodation made it especially convenient with Barney, and the views over the Severn Estuary were simply stunning, particularly first thing in the morning. During our stay, we enjoyed days out in the Forest of Dean, Lydney Harbour, and Ross-on-Wye, all of which were within easy reach and offered plenty to see and do. One of the highlights was the excellent local pub just a short walk away, serving delicious food, a great selection of beers, and offering a lovely beer garden with a warm, friendly atmosphere. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway for two, or simply a peaceful base to explore this amazing part of Gloucestershire with your four-legged friend, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here. We left feeling refreshed and relaxed.

I dont normally leave reviews but feel this wonderful place deserves it. Chapel Hill Retreats is the perfect place to relax & unwind in a very quiet & beautiful setting with views of the river Severn & ideal location to explore the local area including the Forest of Dean. It has 2 accomodations called Oak & Elm each having its own parking space & a charger if you have an EV & a wooden built gazeebo which is perfect to sit outside on those warm evenings which i loved doing. We stayed in Elm & found it to be very clean & modern with everything we needed & more including an ice machine & Espresso coffee machine which were nice touches. Phil & Lauren were very friendly & welcoming & very helpful. We def enjoyed our stay & look forward to booking up again sometime. Highly recommend.
