Mitcheldean sits at the edge of the Forest of Dean, where woodland trails, ancient sites and outdoor pursuits are all within easy reach. Puzzlewood—a rock-strewn ancient woodland used as a filming location for Star Wars and Doctor Who—is a short drive away. The Clearwell Caves offer an underground journey through the area's mining heritage. Countless walking and cycling routes thread through the forest itself, from the Sculpture Trail to paths along the River Wye.
Sunrise Retreat is a one-bedroom lodge on the owners' grounds, sleeping two people and one dog at no extra charge. The single storey has an open-plan living and kitchen area, a double bedroom, and a shower room. You get electricity, heating, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels included. Outside is an enclosed garden with seating and a barbecue, plus parking for one car. The lodge sits on a slight rise reached by 52 steps, giving it a degree of seclusion within the property grounds.
