About The Base Camp Hotel Nevis Range

Ben Nevis, the Nevis Range Mountain Resort and a wide stretch of the Scottish Highlands are all within easy reach of The Base Camp Hotel Nevis Range, making it a practical base for hiking and biking as well as slower days taking in the scenery around Fort William. A golf course, pub and restaurants are also nearby for those who fancy a change of pace after a day on the hills.

The hotel itself has 26 rooms, including family rooms with en-suite bathrooms, free WiFi and drinks available in room. Rooms are kept clean and comfortable, with several looking out onto the surrounding mountains. Breakfast is served each morning, kids' meals are available, and reception operates around the clock for early starts or late returns from the trails.

There's a café and restaurant on site serving decent food and coffee, and staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful. Free on-site parking makes it straightforward to head out for the day, though some guests have felt the rooms are priced a little high for what's on offer.

We're currently on our third night at the hotel and are very happy with it. Everyone is extremely friendly, the restaurant is great, very very good value for money if you're staying at the hotel as you get a discount. The rooms are spotless and comfortable, the beds are firm, but I much prefer that. The bathrooms, where I find most hotel rooms fall, are immaculate. I will say, some of the other guests are a bit empty headed. They began parking three deep and blocking in cars in the centre. Park on the outer edge of the carpark to avoid this. The picture I've attached to this review shows the beginning of the mess. It got much worse.

Great view from the room (photo doesn’t do it justice!) We nearly didn’t book this hotel based on a few negative reviews about lack of water, but expect that was a one-off issue and not a fair assessment of the hotel. So glad we stayed - it’s been great. The room is fairly basic, but functional, and very clean. No water issues for us - had a great shower. Loved the gondola, and walking the dog on the trails up the mountain. Fort William’s a short drive. Staff were great. Food in the cafe was good, and the coffee was top notch. Great stay.

I stayed here from 21 - 27/03/26 and honestly it’s the most friendliest place I’ve been. The staff were all so lovely and helpful. Location is amazing and I had the perfect Mountain View from my room. If you need anything extra, just ask! The staff were on it! The only slightly negative would be maybe a mini fridge and extra hanging space for your wet hiking gear. Thank you so much for the perfect stay!

Only good if you are in middle of nowhere and need a roof to spend a night in. Queen size beds in large room which is small for 2 adults. Basic facilities in premises. Away from local markets. No cupboards. Small sized washroom fixtures. Room service not as expected. Dirty/hard room carpets. Can’t walk on that carpet barefoot. Lift not working.
