Meadowbeck Shepherd's Huts

Amazingly tranquil last minute weekend away from the hustle & bustle of our normal lives. Lots to do & see close by and Lisa & Graham had thought of everything we needed in our 'off-the-grid' Shepherd's Hut there was even a charger for our phones which was linked to a car battery. Bed was very comfortable & hut exceptionally cosy insulated and warm especially with the Stove lit. would highly recommend.

Lisa and Graham are lovely people, but this booking was ill-advised. Accommodation and friendly animals were appreciated. However, there were major works on site from the time we arrived. Builders lorries and trailers blocking the entrance resulting in car damage immediately on arrival, due to the erection of scaffolding and cone warning of dangerous low wall being removed to facilitate building work. During the week, access was almost always blocked. Constant building noise, workmen shouting, dirt and dust immediately in front of the cottage. Work was even being done on our actual rental cottage during our stay. Apparently, further major work remains to be done, involving another 40 tonnes of material to be removed and replaced. Lisa did apologise, and did have some personal issues including a funeral to attend, but with hindsight, cancelling this booking would have been more advisable. Sadly, this experience did not deliver the peace and tranquility on offer, rather constant stress. Lisa joked that we would get some peace once we'd left and got home. I would suggest checking on situation regarding building works here before booking a stay.

Wow! What a jewel in Whitby's crown this hidden gem is. Far away to be in the peace and tranquility of the yorkshire countryside, yet close enough to lots if places to explore. The cottages are just beautiful, comfortable and cosy and VERY VERY hard to leave for a day of exploring... in fact for that reason we had a whole day in the cottage one day, watching the gorgeous goats, sheep and donkeys playing out front, birds on the feeders and admiring the sea view in the distance. The cottage had everything you needed, with a fantastic kitchen and all the utensils you could need. Loved being able to buy fresh eggs on site too and the welcome easter egg and Milk was very well recieved. Our 15 year old son really enjoyed "The Scratching Shed" and announced that when he was older he was going to make his own (sorry not Leeds Utd themed but Leicester City lol). Despite being a foxes fan 😉 He loved looking at the memoribila and tickets and we all really enjoyed a nightly 2 or 3 games of pool. It was really good fun. The shed has some old skool games, including retro pac man, darts board, full size table football, fridges full of drinks to purchase with an honesty box oh and a special mention to the owners home brew cider... It was great! 🙂 Cant recommend Meadowbeck enough, lots of memories made and we hope to return later in the year. Thank you for a lovely break.

Our first time staying in a Shepherd Hut. We have absolutely loved our long weekend. The Hut has a hot powerful shower, toilet, log burner cooker fridge. Everything you need. Great location and stunning views. Lisa and Graham are the perfect hosts. We will definitely be coming back. 😍
