Late lunch with a friend. Firstly, the building is beautiful and characterful as you would expect from a 15th century site and full of interesting history. On arrival staff very friendly and immediately cleaned a dining area for our use. From here on in things were a little disappointing. New menu flumoxed the pleasant member of staff so ordering was more effort than expected. Fish and chips ordered, looked fabulous but.... fish itself very tasty but covered in very greasy, thick batter. Simple salad ordered as a side tasted very bitter and lacked dressing. If we had been able to speak to a staff member we would have discussed during our visit. Unfortunately once payment is taken nobody comes to check all is ok. Lovely place, lovely staff but needs more effort. It was not busy when we visited so a quick check would have been appreciated.

Fantastic service for both nights that we had drinks and dinner. They've just started doing a new menu which is delicious. Caters very well for allergy sufferers and all of the staff were very knowledgeable about it. They were helpful, polite and guided us to the best dish for us to order that could me made gluten and dairy free which was the poke bowl and fish and chips. On the second night they were very busy and we didn't have a booking, we were seated and served quickly. They gave us a timescale for food of about 40 minutes, but actually it came 15 minutes faster than what we were told which was great! We ordered the apple and rhubarb crumble for dessert and were served by Annabel who gave brilliant service and we highly recommend! We didn't get the managers name or the barman who served us on both nights unfortunately, but they were very helpful too. Definitely go here if you want to have great food and a good time!

Whilst I did not stay here so cannot comment on the rooms, I often use this pub when I visit Glastonbury, the service is always good, any meals I have had have been of top quality. And best of all, this pub serves the finest Meads in the UK, important for us Pagans. This is certainly one of my favourite pubs and I look forward to my next visit.

What an amazing pub. Beautiful bar and main salon found just off the main street in Glastonbury. With a stone flagged walk way through the middle of the building there are small private snugs available for more private gatherings and a quiet family meal if the charm of the main bar is not for you. There is a seating area to the rear, but the inside is what really makes this place standout. Friendly local staff who know their stuff. Service is excellent and never had a bad pint or meal in here. Worth a visit if you are in town.
