About Riverside Caravan Park at The George
A campsite with its own traditional pub is always a winner, and The George delivers on both fronts. Set along the wildlife-rich River Cam, this friendly spot offers well-maintained pitches – some with private hedging – plus spotless individual wet rooms that reviewers consistently praise. The attached inn serves very good home-cooked local food and traditional ales at reasonable prices, with a popular steakhouse section and regular steak nights. The large beer garden overlooks the river, perfect for spotting otters, kingfishers and swans between pints.
Just five minutes from the M5, it's ideal as a Gloucestershire base or a southwest stopover. Countryside walks thread along the riverbank, while the Gloucester to Sharpness Canal and Forest of Dean are both within easy reach. The secure, peaceful atmosphere and helpful staff add to the appeal, though the terrain can be a little uneven with gravel and loose mud in places – something to bear in mind if mobility is a concern.

What visitors say
Stopped here for an overnight stop over on the way to the South West with our caravan. Pitches were very good, spacious, with a picnic bench and drinking water tap (shared with neighbouring pitch,) shower and washing facilities were excellent, according to my partner, as I didn't use them. The pub restaurant which the site is on the grounds of offered a great selection of drinks and food, although there weren't many vegan options for my partner. The one they did have she assured me was very enjoyable with the the right amount of spice. The members of staff, both on site and in the pub were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend and would also certainly return again.

Easy check-in with a helpful warden at this well-maintained and very secure pub campsite. Some of the pitches are slightly uneven for tents but the tall hedges between every 2 pitches are a nice touch for privacy. Toilets and showers in a heated block were spotless and functional, although the timer on the shower push button was quite short. Some campers may enjoy hum of the nearby A38 and M5, others may wish to bring earplugs for sleeping. The pub serves excellent food including breakfast from 9am each day, and has a decent selection of drinks which can be enjoyed in a large beer garden. There are some lovely riverside walking paths from the back of the campsite.

Stopped for an overnight on the way down to Devon, as our usual stop is just getting too expensive. A definite good choice, excellent location, easy access to and from the motorway, good facilities, nice walk along the river for the dogs, good choice of pitches, small gravel for overnight was ideal and nice and secure. The facilities are individual wet rooms, and were spotless. The smaller pitches are fine for an overnight, but on our next (longer) visit we'll definitely go for a large pitch, which are a very good size with their own water tap. Staff very friendly and pleasant to deal with. The pub next door is well worth a visit, very good food and drink.

Excellent site warden was friendly and informative. Great stopover site. Only criticism was entry and exit. To do either you use a key card to raise the auto barrier but also there is a height barrier and the two don't work together the warden or tbe pub has to remotely remove the height barrier and the warden isn't available after 20.30?? Why the 2 cant be linked to the key card so its easier to come and go at night. Overall great site will stop again.
