About The Dolphin Hotel
Rooms at The Dolphin Hotel come with en-suite bathrooms, comfortable beds and drinks laid on, with family and accessible rooms available for those who need them. That said, upkeep is inconsistent across the 50 rooms, and some guests have found their room a bit tired or poorly kept, so it's worth bearing in mind that standards vary.
The hotel sits on Albert Square in Great Yarmouth, with a restaurant, bar and snack bar on site, plus breakfast, packed lunches and kids' meals for families passing through. There's a garden and outdoor seating for warmer days, room service for those who'd rather stay put, and business services if you're travelling for work. Free on-site parking is provided, and pets are welcome.
The staff are consistently mentioned as helpful, and the hotel is generally considered good value for the price. Nearby you'll find golf, fishing, cycling and walking routes, watersports, and a choice of pubs and restaurants, making it a straightforward base for exploring Great Yarmouth's coastal attractions.

THE DOLPHIN HOTEL!!! So yesterday we drove for 4 1/2 hours (8 adults, 2 children and a dog) arrived in Great Yarmouth for our holiday to begin. We had messaged our accommodation that morning, via booking.com app, replying to a message we had received asking our arrival time, to inform them we would be slightly earlier than the 3pm check-in and was told “no problem check in at 2pm let us know if you require earlier! So imagine, we arrive at The Dolphin Hotel to find what can be described as a derelict looking building, closed doors, with a note say “due to maintenance issues we have had to close, but we have arranged a booking at The Carlton. So off we go to The Carlton, to be told no sorry we are full we have no room for you! Not quite sure what the guy on reception found funny enough about this situation to keep smirking at me, but he did! We was met in The Carlton by another family with the same issue, she advised us to call booking.com as she was currently on hold with them too. So I did to be told “unfortunately this morning the hotel and an issue with water so had to close immediately”! Bullshit!!! This place has been closed for ages. Yet even today still available to book on Booking.com. Even though this issue they are aware off. Reception guy still smirking away, told me “they have no clue what is happening they have nothing to do with The Dolphin! So I questioned why they were happy to have a note in the window with their name on…..not good for them getting irate holiday makers arrive thinking they have a booking when they don’t!! Of course they know what’s going on they are owned by the same person, (confirmed by other local hotels) but as soon as I told him and the manager that they were very keen to get me out of the hotel, because more unhappy people were arriving. We left, booking.com advised us to put in for a refund and book somewhere else!! Wonder if they have ever tried booking a same day accommodation in the height of summer for 10 people and a dog!!! There was nothing!! And then, after 3 stressful hours we found accommodation, via cottages.com the lovely lady that answered the phone contacted the owners because it was same day and late in the day they had to check with the owners and cleaners etc, it worked perfectly and we now have the most beautiful accommodation for the week. But not how I wanted to start our holiday. It’s a disgrace that they just think it’s acceptable to behave in this way, and the fact that booking.com are doing nothing about it. So a warning to all stay away from The DOlphin Hotel……and The Carlton!!!! Hopefully this is sorted before many more families have to go through the same!!

This place has gone down hill since it was taken over . The room was dirty, no toiletries, no hand towels, broken windows, wet not just damp walls, needs a really good deep clean indifferent member of staff on reception not manned 24 hours lights in bathroom held together with masking tape. No lift, no restaurant, Won't be booking this hotel again

If you are expecting the rooms from the photos don't bother . It's very run down mold in rooms stained carpets , dirty walls rundown rooms . We asked for a disability room and when got there was given a key for top floor . So had to wait three hours for room to get ready . The bed was the most uncomfortable bed . Hair dryer had melted that it was stinking . No plug in sink and taps constantly dripped. On second morning woke up to the stink of weed . And cigarette smoke . We said about toam on desk and didn't seam to bothered . Milk in room was none existent and was never topped up or bins checked . Yes very close to beach and funfair but town is a long walk . Or get the land train or horses in season . If you think travellodge on a extrema budget then you got this hotel . It's more like a hostel than a hotel . Need alot of money spent on it . pack a extension lead as only one plug on other side of room . WiFi seams to be switched off at 8pm and I'm sure the cleaner is getting paid to be the most noisy person in hotel . No bar or entertainment on site . All windows are old wooden ones . So not very warm . Only one very flat pillow on bed that had to build up with dressing gown and other items . I would of left earlier than book if not booked as my dad is very ill and close to him . But if just want a bed to put head down on it's ok also bring a door jam as locks are falling off and only a key chain to give you security . Mattress had more stains than a teens bed in a collage hallways very dark and dim lit not very disability friendl. They NEED TO REVAMP AS SURE NOT UP TO CODE
