Aberserw Cottage is a detached stone building with character to spare—oak flooring, exposed beams and substantial windows frame views across rolling countryside. The property sits in farmland by the River Serw near Beddgelert, where off-road trails start from the garden itself. Two bedrooms and a bathroom occupy the first floor; downstairs, a kitchen with electric cooking and full appliances opens onto a living and dining room with an electric woodburner, and there is a utility room with a washing machine. Bed linen and towels are provided, along with electricity in the rent; heating is gas central. The enclosed garden has seating and a barbecue, and there is parking for two cars on site.
The location suits walkers and anyone wanting to explore the national park without straying far from base. The River Serw runs through the grounds (unfenced), and the property has natural water via a spring. Dolgellau's market-town shops and pubs are roughly 12 minutes' drive away; a local pub is three miles nearer. Cader Idris, the Mawddach Trail and coastal Barmouth are all within reasonable reach. No smoking indoors. The cottage takes four people: two double and single bedrooms, plus a day bed suitable for a child.

This property was recommended to us by someone we know and I have to say I owe thanks to both the owners of this fantastic property and our friends that pointed us in this direction. We have just had a truly brilliant 4 days in the Retreat. The standard of facility was excellent, with high end appliances and everything worked perfectly, the position, though nicely secluded, is close enough to walk to the village of Beddgelert, which has a number of restaurants and pubs. The surrounding areas have some really great opportunities to enjoy Wales.

We had the pleasure of staying in aber cottage for Easter, it was fabulous. Everywhere was spotless and clean the kitchen was amazing. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out. It was lovely having a bbq ready to use and being right next to the river was really relaxing after a walk. The welcome basket and fresh flowers was a lovely touch. We will definitely be booking again in the near further.

Stunning location. Set down from the road next to an almost raging river. We went in November when it was wet and rather unpleasant weather-wise but those going in the warmer months, Aber Cottage will be sublime. Just minutes away from Beddgelert and Porthmadog - and around 30 or so to Caernarvon - it's an ideal location to explore Snowdonia. Karen was super attentive in all the communications and the welcome basket of goodies made for a wonderful treat after a 6.5 hour drive to get there. Last but not least, it has probably the best-equipped kitchen of any rental property anywhere in the world that I have stayed. Hopefully, I'll have a chance to return in warmer weather!

Aber cottage is a truly fantastic place. The property itself is delightful and brilliantly equipped but its most impressive feature is its stunning riverside location. Ideally positioned for exploring the mountains of Snowdonia or enjoying the beaches and castles of North Wales, we had a fabulous week there and hope to get the chance to return again soon.
