Enlli is a terraced stone cottage built to last, located in the small village of Llanuwchllyn at the quieter end of Bala Lake, Wales's largest natural lake. The building sits within Snowdonia National Park, within sight of mountains and water. The village is tiny—the pub and shop are opposite the front door, a ten-yard walk away—which suits those seeking genuine quiet rather than bustle. A wood burner in the living room and dining room provides warmth on cold nights, and oil central heating covers the rest of the year. The cottage is yours alone to use.
Two bedrooms sleep four: one double bed (4ft 6in) and two single beds (3ft each). The bathroom has a shower cubicle. Downstairs are a separate toilet, a kitchen with a cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, and two rooms with wood burners. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen, towels and initial logs for the burners are all included. There is an enclosed courtyard and on-road parking outside. No smoking inside.
The lake itself invites sailing, canoeing and trout fishing. The Bala Lake railway runs from the nearby station along the shore, or walk into the town of Bala for restaurants and a leisure centre with pool. Snowdonia offers serious walking and cycling, white-water rafting and golf; the beaches of Barmouth are 23 miles south. The village pub takes dogs and serves food.
