About Abercelyn Country House
Abercelyn is an eighteenth-century Grade II listed former rectory in the hamlet of Llanycil, set in award-winning landscaped gardens that run down towards the shore of Llyn Tegid, with the market town of Bala a short stroll away along the lakeside path.
Bedrooms are furnished with individual period pieces and all have en-suite bathrooms, some with whirlpool baths, while a drawing room with library and open fire gives guests somewhere to relax in the evening. Breakfast is home-cooked, with freshly baked bread, free-range eggs and home-made preserves, and special diets are catered for on request.
Its position right on the lake, away from the bustle of the High Street, makes it a favourite for guests who want a peaceful country stay with the water on their doorstep.

Our third time staying at Abercelyn Cottages and we love it every time. All the cottages have everything you need for your stay and Nigel and Margaret are wonderful hosts and very helpful. Our dog loves the lake so it’s a perfect base for us as it’s just minutes to the waters edge. We look forward to coming again!

It's a little gem to stay for a vacation visiting Snowdonia. The host, Nigel and Margaret are super nice and helpful. The cottage is very clean and well equipped with all the utensils you need for a vacation. You can cook as at home and BBQ was a nice experience for us. Only around 15-20 minutes walk to the town of Bala, you can grab the daily necessity and simply pick a cafe for tasty meal. Highly recommended.

Had an amazing short holiday break at the cottages, staying in Tythe Barn 2 as a family of four with our dog. The cottage had everything needed to a very good standard, comfortable, clean and welcoming. The kitchen is well equipped. Beautiful surrounds and lovely views across the lake. Margaret and Nigel made us feel very welcome throughout our stay, giving us lots of suggestions on what to do and information on the local area. Highly recommended and we hope to be back soon. Thank you.

Perfectly located for mountain bikers to visit several of the best Welsh bike parks placing them in easy reach, it is also right by a big lake you can swim in on a summers afternoon after a long day of dusty riding. With good food to be had in Bala just down the road these are beautiful comfortable cottages at a great price and Nigel is a simply terrific host.
