The Granary

Photo: [email protected]

Between the Snowdonia mountains and the Lleyn Peninsula's coast, this part of Gwynedd draws walkers, cyclists and families exploring both landscape and seaside villages. The Granary sits on a smallholding accessed by a farm track, surrounded by fields with views toward Cardigan Bay. Criccieth, two and a half miles away, has a medieval castle, beach, restaurants and shops; Porthmadog, equally close, is where the Ffestiniog Railway departs for mountain journeys through Snowdonia.

The property holds four people across two bedrooms: one with a kingsize bed upstairs, one with two single beds downstairs. There is one bathroom with a shower cubicle. The ground floor combines living, dining and kitchen space, with a woodburner for cooler evenings and a Smart TV for downtime. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking—electric oven, microwave, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. One dog stays free and must be kept on a lead. Essentials like electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are covered. Outside, an enclosed lawn has patio seating and a barbecue; parking for two cars is on site, and there's a bike store. No smoking inside.

This works well for groups wanting a base between coast and mountains, or for anyone drawn to the steam railway, Portmeirion, or the walking and cycling routes across the national park. Arrival is after 4pm; departure by 9.30am.

We've stayed at the Granary at Tŷ Eiddew farm twice and have loved every moment of each of our stays and are extremely likely to return in the future, I cannot recommend the Granary as a holiday retreat enough.

A fantastic converted granary on a working farm, although the farm isn't vast so there's no inconvenience in staying here. Louis and Sally (the owners) are perfect hosts, very informative but not intrusive. In 20 years of visiting Wales, they're probably my favourite hosts. The property is ideal for a couple but, there's also a bedroom with bunk beds for a bigger family. It's cosy, has amazing views across the Menai, comfortably remote but a 10 minute drive to the heart of Caernarfon (or a 3 mile walk along the Welsh Coastal path.)

Lovely cottage on a working farm. Great views and very peaceful! Shops , garage, garden centre, and McDonald's are a 2 minute drive.

Lovely holiday cottage in a convenient location to surrounding attractions in north Wales. The hosts Louis and Sally are wonderful and it’s great to see their operational farm, especially for kids, can’t recommend enough!
